This was the first thematic map I build with the historian Sergio Coelho de Oliveira and with the support of the Sorocaba’s House of Spain; it was done a data survey with 213 Spanish descendent families that arrived in Brazil at the end of the XIX century and around the fifties. The hardest thing (besides the documentation presented by the families) was to find the locations that do not longer exists in common maps, because their villages had about 300 to 400 people (there was a village with nine). The solution was to appeal to Google Earth through the latitude and longitude and in regional maps landed by the families (it was added 67 locations). As if it wasn’t enough, the Spain is a country with many dialects and many locations had different names from the used sources; but anyway, it was 4 months of and incredible experience.
