Author: Joan Blaeu (Atlas Maior 1662-1665).
Artistic reproduction from the original, on this map we can observe the division of Italy in its principalities, ducats, city-states, etc. It was like this that time (maybe with partial exception on the Iberian Peninsula), basically all Europe and its current political configurations basically only define itself at the end of the XIX Century. We can see on the top left side of the map an allegory of a female figure with many crowns from the main Italian states, among them the papal tiara and the Dodge of Venice. Next to it, the allegories represent two rivers going to the sea, the Dust and Timbre.
Ah, the beautiful Italy with its rich history and art, it was a great pleasure to reproduce this map, land of my ancestors.
