Artistic reproduction from the original, this map shows the formation of both States, Portugal and Spain were already on the way of consolidation as nations while the rest of Europe was still fighting in many kingdoms. The Map is decorated with an image of Felipe IV’s Weapons (1605-1665) and its “borders” shows where the Pyrenees on the border of the actual France, the Balearic Islands, the Strait of Gibraltar and the entrance to the Mediterranean and the north of Africa wildly explored after the expulsion of the Moors.
Measures without frame: 0,95 m x 0,72 m (~3ft 1,4in x 2ft 4,3in).
Execution time of the original: 283 hours.
Material: polyester film 75 microns.
Technique: shapes and geographical accidents traced with nakin pen, painted with soft pastel and fixed with protector varnish against fungus, moisture and weather per the technique created and develop by Francisco Stein – 100% Handmade.
