Artistic reproduction from the original of this curious map on “vertical position” (before the conventions of the maps pointed to north) shows all the art and science united in a only image; the cartographic data goes since the Strait of Magellan to the south of the “Caribbean Florida” (obviously on the cartographic knowledge from that time) and also its rich description through images of the fauna, flora, cultural aspects from the indigenous ethnics, etc. A point to be highlighted is the number of Spanish villages already stablished while the Portuguese side with only a few villages and still incipients.
This map is part of a series of maps about the colonization of the Americas pretentious personal project that looked to sharpen the curiosity on students about our history with its distribution in classrooms of all learning levels, project that did not go through due the lack of interest by the responsible agencies for the education and culture in our country.
