Born in Brazil, Francisco Stein transform maps in real art pieces completely handmade. His passion for History and Geography made him a reference in the modality and can take over 300 hours or months to complete each map. Every map is digitalized in high resolution and printed on polyester film, the same used on the original map, having as result a canvas in fine art with a few differences of color nuances related to it.
Working as a Mechanic Designer during a long time, he acquired knowledge and skills to work on drawing boards, nankin pen and polyester, essentials to what will be his future profession: artist.
Associate will all of this, Francisco Stein taught history classes for a few years and realized that it is unthinkable to talk about history without having a map to show where the facts happened. He had the habit to draft maps on the blackboard, then with sketches made one vegetal papers for presentation of his classes, he saw an expressive increase on the students’ interest about the subject, this habit became a talent and talents are called gifts.
All of this happens to transform it on this pleasurable hobby, and today became his most loved profession.
The artist during the years of his career drew a series of maps that now will be transformed into special images, treating his clients differently in a different way, “your favorite map, for map fans” now in special and different products: big beer mug, small beer mug, squeezes, whisky glass, porcelain mug, maps in plastic canvas, pillow covers, flip flops. Certainly, an excellent gift and/or to initiate a magnificent collection.
